Apply for an NRDC China Summer Internship
The Beijing Office of the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is looking for several summer interns who are energetic, environmentally conscious, intelligent, and self-confident college or graduate students. The accepted interns will work in different project areas to learn how policy research and advocacy is carried out by a non-profit environmental organization. There will be opportunities to participate in internal and external meetings and discussions as appropriate. The interns are expected to provide assistance in information compilation, research and analysis, as well as in drafting/editing and project activities as required.
The summer internship typically lasts 10 to 12 weeks and takes place between June – September 2010. No funding will be provided except small subsidies to cover working lunches and public transportation.
NRDC is a non-profit, non-governmental environmental organization established in 1970 and headquartered in New York City. Currently, with more than 1.5 million members and online supporters, NRDC’s staff of over 380 environmental lawyers, scientists, and policy and technical specialists work from five offices, including Washington, D.C., San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Beijing. Our mission is to safeguard the Earth, its people, its plants and animals and the natural systems on which all life depends. In China, NRDC has collaborated with government agencies, research institutes, and civil society organizations for over a decade to help strengthen energy efficiency, green building standards, clean energy technology development, and environmental laws and regulations.

- Green Building/Building Energy Efficiency Policies
- Power Sector Energy Efficiency/Demand Side Management
- Sustainable urban development/smart growth
- Low-carbon energy
- Environmental communications
Basic Qualifications:
- College student, graduate student, or recently graduated;
- At least working level proficiency in Chinese and English;
- Preferred majors and degrees include, but are not limited to, energy policy, environmental engineering/science, architecture, construction management, business, law, international relations, public policy, and communications.
